The Mask (1994) Directed by Chuck Russell. Jim Carrey as Stanley Ipkiss. The Mask's exclamation of "That's a spicy meatball!" after swallowing the bomb is quoting a famous commercial for Alka-Seltzer, in which an actor in an Alka-Seltzer commercial had to eat spaghetti for over 60 takes because he kept blowing his one line. One memorable version was, "Mama Mia, that's a spicy mice-a ball." In the film, whenever anyone who wears The Mask gets injured in a severe or fatal manner, they show no signs of being injured and are shown to be basically indestructible. However, in the first three volumes of the original comic book, whenever anyone who wears The Mask gets injured in a severe or fatal manner, their blood and organs spill out.
