Blue barrels vs dry packs I don’t really know which one is better but i really prefer to use blue barrels with Level Six harnesses. I’ve paddled more than 600 days using barrels and approximately 50 days using SealLine dry packs. The blue barrel is heavier, less comfortable, a bit smaller, impossible to fit under the yoke but speaking for myself, so much easier to use overall. I know that it’s not good for my back but i often portage 2 barrels at a time: one on my back and one on my chest. It’s so easy and quick to open and close the lid on the barrel. I’m never scared of puncturing it. I can sit on it or use it as a small table. If i capsize, i don’t worry about my barrel going through rapids. Finally, i have the feeling that it’s safer against animals. The @seallinegear packs are high-quality and well built. I can totally understand why people would use them instead of barrels. The packs are supportive, fully adjustable, waterproof, adaptable, so comfortable, versatile and the colors are very nice.
