#repost @las_artfoundation How is AI used in @mariannasimnett's ‘GORGON’? The character of Gorgon is brought to life through various image generation models. They are trained on video footage of the artist embodying a set of non-human species. Simnett's mimicry of animals is intended to confuse the models as they try to classify data. By training AI models on footage of Simnett, a visual bridge is built between her analogue performance and the realm of digital abstraction. The flute-opera ‘GORGON’ looks at the challenges humans and systems face as they strive to keep up with the relentless acceleration of technology, and offers a timely commentary on how we meet the uncanny, the unwieldy and the unknown.
