In this video I’m answering a question someone asked based off my video yesterday on the easiest way to increase your metabolism Here’s how your body burns calories We will start with TDEE which is your total daily energy expenditure ( calories out) BMR ( Basal metabolic rate) This is what it takes to keep you alive, your heart pumping and blood flowing. This is about 60% of calories burned!! Give or take depending on the person. NEAT ( non exercise activity thermogenesis) This is about 25 % of calories burned. This is things like walking, housework, yard work, sweeping, vacuuming. Anything non exercise related and the reason I tell you to get up and MOVE!! TEF ( thermic effect of food) This is about 10-15 % of calories burned. What it takes to digest food in the body. Protein has the highest thermic effect and one of the many reasons we concentrate on protein during a fat loss phase! Eat your protein! EA ( exercise activity) burns only -10% of calories! Yup!! You heard that right! This is at the BOTTOM of the calorie burning list and why I tell you that you have more control on what’s going IN than OUT. Exercise for heart health, mental health and to build muscle. Not as a means of punishment for what you ate. Strength training and building muscle are super important and can raise your BMR which is at the top of the list. Concentrate on being in a calorie deficit Via Nutrition.. Strength train, get adequate protein and get your NEAT up for fatloss folks!!!!
