Navigating college #dininghalls can be tough for those in #eatingdisorder recovery. Before leaving for college, we will ask our patients to select a meal on a buffet line like at supermarket, or a local college. This is to prepare to eat in a dining hall, which can be overwhelming. The Plate-by-Plate Approach® can be taken with you to college for a successful transition - no measuring needed! Decide what protein you want to start with, and scoop some onto your plate to fill about 25% of the plate. Next, choose a starch that sounds good: mashed potatoes , mac and cheese, fried rice🍚 …(also contain fats). Fill 50% of the plate with the starch. Then, add a vegetable🥦🥕in the remaining 25%. Dairy can come from cheese or pair with a glass of milk🥛(or yogurt, or a dairy alternative like soy milk) for added calcium.
