Anger was in my Shadow for a long time. I suppressed it and swallowed it and I let the heat reside in my body until I’d explode, unable to hold it in anymore. I remember vividly being in Bali 3 years ago reading ‘Emotional Intimacy’ and reading something like ‘Anger isn’t bad, expressed healthily it is your greatest ally. Expressed unhealthily as aggression (or not expressed at all) - can do a lot of damage.’ The last few years has been a journey of owning my anger and frustration. Allowing it to guide me, show me my boundaries and protect me. Recently I’ve experienced a lot of these heated emotions in the face of my chronic pain and skin inflammation. However, crying (my usual overwhelm and frustration release) has not been accessible. My eyes would burn up, the salt would rub the wounds and I’d get in a pickle. I have been learning deeply how to allow the stress and fear rise, how to dispel that energy and allow it to move so that it does not get suppressed and create additional internal heat. This video was 10 days ago, allowing the very valid frustration I was feeling to be expressed. To be important. With shaking, jumping and screaming, I can release the tension and heightened physiological state, dispel excess adrenaline and stress and return to a downregulated state where I can access breathwork and journalling.
