🦊 Since 2005, the Fjällräven Classic has drawn thousands of hikers to Swedish Lapland for a 110-kilometer group trek along the Dag Hammarskjöld Trail past steep peaks, glacial lakes, and mushroom-studded tundra. This year, Fjällräven invited Backpacker’s Executive Editor Adam Roy to join them. We’re sharing some of his photos this week. 🦊 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑 The route of the Fjällräven Classic is surrounded by water; it rumbles through gorges topped by swaying steel bridges, soaks marshes, and winds through the valleys in swift, wide streams that split and merge again like fraying yarn. Often, it falls from the sky: I hiked about half the route wearing rain pants, something I almost never use at home. During a break at Alisjávri, a wide lake milky-blue with silt from glacier-ground rocks, one member of our group waded in. I didn’t want to miss the moment: I stripped to my underwear and jumped in too. Soon, almost our entire group was floating in the water.
