GROOMING INTRO 🐶🐾 Here is little Lilliwen helping me to demonstrate how to start to introduce a grooming brush, isn’t she sweet 🥰 Whether you have a puppy or an older dog, the principles are the same when introducing new equipment and activities such as grooming. The most important thing is to make the experience POSITIVE! You want them to feel comfortable and safe. I love to use food dispensing toys to help with this, filled with some high value food such as paste or something like tuna 🐟. This dispensing toy is the UFO from @lickimat but there are plenty on the market to choose from. Ones that stick to a wall or low window are ideal to keep them still 😊 Remember to go at your dogs pace, don’t rush the process. Little and often to allow them to build up their confidence is key. You are certainly not looking to complete a full grooming session to begin with, this will come with time! P.S. For those of you who saw my stories earlier this week and took a guess at Lilliwen’s breed - she isn’t a Westie (most common answer!) but a Sealyham Terrier ❤️ Let me know if you give it a go!
