Your inner child should not be running your adult relationships! But that’s exactly what can happen when we don’t address our childhood traumas. You’ve heard me say that trauma (which is an emotional wound) will distort how we see ourselves and others. Many have suffered childhood wounds that caused them to lose their sense of safety. They lose their ability to perceive what is a threat and what is not. Childhood trauma can carry over into our adulthood causing us to fear others even when they have no intention of harming us. It’s important to address those fears and distortions so that we can give and receive love fearlessly.
