Didn't expect to find my name in one of the many obituaries honoring Jimmy Buffett, let alone for this shared achievement as a fellow author. I knew and am grateful to him as a supporter of the nonprofit I founded in 2006 called @saydetroit, through his Singing for Change Foundation. One dollar of every ticket sold on his tours went to the foundation, whose grants to #SAYDetroit helped bring true progress for Detroiters in need. He would also give of his time directly, often joining me live on our annual radiothon fundraiser and meeting with charity auction winners who would bid enthusiastically for tickets and backstage passes with the one and only. He once said that if there was to be a heaven for him, he was sure there was a beach attached to it. I have a feeling there's sand and cheeseburgers for him from now on. #jimmybuffett #inmemoriam #gratitude #singingforchange
