✨#NEVVEN [ @nevvengallery ] is proud to present "I Am Still Me," a solo show by Bologna based Chinese artist #ShafeiXia [ @shafeixia ] presenting a new body of work which introduces for the first time in Scandinavia one of the most exciting and unique artists living in Italy right now. Mixing erotica, Chinese symbology and a very personal sense of humour, Xia has created a whole imaginary realm of her own, populated by anthropomorphic animals and doll-like figures who are busy and indifferent, taking care of their tender, goofy and sexy business, and presented in large tableaux vivants or more intimate portraits. Spreading from the surface of her drawings on sandalwood paper mounted on canvas —a technique uniquely developed by the artist— to wall-hanging ceramics, ”I Am Still Me” seems like an eerie dream within and distorting a traditional fairy tale, a Chinese one specifically, and we are invited by Shafei Xia to join her in this dream of her own.
