In a first, Ganga Aarti was conducted on the Southern shores of Britain in Portsmouth. Kirtaniya Nayana Das, from West Bengal (India), sang the beautiful aarti, whilst Shyamal, Anisha, Pritam, and Dipa performed it. They were inspired by the famous Ganga Aarti from Dashashwamedh Ghat, Varanasi. The mesmerising Aarti ceremony in Portsmouth marked the end of the Sankirtan Roadshow 2023, where four kirtans were organised in Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham and Portsmouth. This mirrored the famous Gaudiya Vaishnava Char Dham pilgrimage route in Bharat. The four Dhams are Jagannath Puri Dham, Nabadwip Dham, Virindavan Dham, and Gokul Dham. Hindus rever Ganga as a hugely sacred river and divine manifestation. Many Hindus believe that all rivers are sacred and lead to the same oceans. Rivers are seen as living, sustainers of human, plant and animal life, maternal and worthy of praise and upkeep. #ganga #gangaaarti #aarti #portsmouth #portsmouthuk #sankirtan #kirtan #hindu #hinduism #sanatandharma #vaishnava #bengali #river #uknews #hindunews
