This is a late summer cookie using brush embroidery. I like cookie decorations as it is like painting, where the biscuits are the canvas and the royal icing is the paint. The best of all is, it is edible. When it is the heat wave outside, I can spend the evenings just playing with colours and different decorating techniques using royal icing. It is easier to get textures using royal icing, depending on the ratio of egg white and icing sugar, you can get thicker and thinner icing. Thinner icing is great for flood icing and filling and doing the base colours, while the thicker icing works magic with the texture and surface reliefs. Brush embroidery is done with relatively thicker icing. You pipe the edges using the thicker icing and then use a damp brush to slowly mix it with the base colour, in small strokes. It is effective as it is but thought to do some #lace pattern on the sides too.
