I RETURNED to this location last week in an attempt to redeem myself following a blunder 5 years ago where I shot a rad lapse, but all the gear crapped out on me. It isn't quite the right time of year and this was mostly a gear test for an upcoming project I have in the works. It was a success albeit my lens is super broken. The shot was an 8 hour 4ft slider timelapse tucked about 25 feet down in a lava crack. The best time of year is in early spring during a quarter moon and when the milky will line directly up with the crack. Can you spot the Andromeda Galaxy and Jupiter? I'll be building a timelapse film over the next three seasons and I'm glad to know I have a couple sliders/systems figured out. I plan to do a bunch of live IG and TikTok videos of me setting up gear and answering questions along the journey, so spread the word and get the questions ready!
