Oberrotweiler Henkenberg GG - Weingut Salwey - 2017 - Whitewine - VDP.GG - Baden/Kaiserstuhl - Germany - 13,0% Grape Varieties: 100% Pinot Blanc At the weekend we tasted a wonderful Pinot Blanc GG from the VDP winery Salwey. The winery cultivates around 40 hectares of vineyards in a very sunny part of germany, which offers optimal conditions for high-quality wines every year. With its not too dry, almost Mediterranean climate, the location with volcanic subsoil offers optimal conditions for the grape varieties Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. The vineyard on the southwestern foothills of the Kaiserstuhl is the municipality of Oberrotweil, where the Salwey winery is also located. In the glass is a wonderful straw yellow with light silver reflections. On the nose are great flavours of pear, apricot, citrus, almond, grapefruit, mango, flint and a hint of baked apple. On the palate firm and light-footed with fresh acidity and great finesse, plus a fine tannin, only with a little time the strength and ripe fruit is added, back out again some exotic. A wonderful balance of acidity, fruit and body. An intense Pinot Blanc that can shine with freshness and finesse.
