Labor Day Weekend 1988 What a time to be alive! We were either walking down Atlantic Ave or the boardwalk. I was walking with my cousins @washingtongreg and @jwash2345, as they were my “spotters”. Greg says “Look up there! There’s Kenny Smith!” I’m like “Kenny who…..where?” Jeff said he was a Tar Heel that played with Jordan (I didn’t know basketball very well then or now, but I did know who MJ was). If I’m not mistaken, Greg was a big Wolfpack fan, and Jeff was the Tar Heels fan. Brothers…can’t even get on one accord! 🤦🏾‍♂️. Anyway, I later found out that @kennysmith was REAL NICE at Carolina & had just wrapped up a stellar rookie season in the NBA at Sacramento! And there he was….on the balcony chillin with friends, listening to music, and saying hey to everyone. I was only 18 and had never photographed an NBA athlete! I’d purchased my Minolta X-700 camera just 6 months before this and went down to Greekfest at VA Beach. Got there & lost my mind! So many beautiful Black People in one place. .
