If you're deeply ensconced in the art community - whether as a spectator or creator - seeing the endlessly unique ways in which others express their creativity is just as mood-boosting as eating way too much chocolate or exploring a wooded trail while tripping out on 'shrooms🍄🌀🌈🤯. Injecting contemporary flair into thrift store paintings that might otherwise look a bit dated and/or continue languishing in obscurity is nothing new, but I think that these various examples of Dave Pollot's (@davepollotart) 2023 power tool-wielding creative escapades are as fun and whimsical as they are next-level inspiring. Beyond the obvious appeal of their pop-culture-y cheekiness, I appreciate the fact that the artist - who, for one decade, has been using vintage art as the springboard for his creative efforts - was inspired to break the fourth wall after marveling at @andrewscott_art's ongoing experimentations (and isn't that what the creative community should provide - a hot bed of a-ha moments that lead to new unique output?).
