Throwing it back almost 3 years to the fanciest #ES175 I have ever had in the house! 😉 2014 #Gibson #ES295, belonging to my friend @tomgibson3783. The ES295 is said to have originated in 1951 from a request Les Paul made to Gibson for an ES-175 finished in gold. The story goes that Les wanted to present the guitar as a gift to a terminally ill patient he had met while performing at a veteran's hospital, who had asked him for a "golden archtop". This Memphis reissue version is just beautiful, with a nice dark rosewood fretboard with split parallelogram inlays, customary gold-stenciled pickguard, wood riser under the bridge pickup, trapeze bridge/tailpiece, and finished in a colour Gibson calls "Bullion Gold". I am not sure if this is the same finish you'd find on a #LesPaul #GoldTop. #BullionGold appears to be subtly different - it's a little bit warmer and richer looking; not quite as "yellow". Much more pleasing (to my eye, anyway).
