Ahead of my show this Sunday at @thehighspirits I realised I’ve been performing for da High Homies over the last 10 years! And most of my most memorable shows have been there only - so I made this retrospective of ALL my gigs at da High or with da High Homies over the years! Indeed, High was one of the first venues outside Delhi to book me way back in the day. The first time I stepped foot in High Spirits, I was kinda blown away that something like this existed in India at the time… circa 2011-12, back then I was (allegedly) managing the events at (legendary) TLR in HKV, and we thought we were the hot shit. But when I experienced Da High, I was like HEY this is everything we try to do at TLR but then some - and it’s HUGE! Most people just don’t realise exactly how difficult it is to run a club, and keep it going on… And then, it’s even tougher to build a community! The community at High has always been welcoming and encouraging to me - and the crowd always wants the freshest sounds and artists that push the boundaries. Music at High just hits different! Also, most people across India don’t realise just how much High Spirits has contributed to the Indian scene - it really was one of the first templates for a successful alternative music venue and it inspired many many people to start their own venues, festivals, agencies, careers in music/events… So I wanna take this opportunity to thank @khodu , @oorvak5h , @instajoshi69 , @shweataaaa , @hakunayatatas , and all the team and High Homies there from over the years 🙏🏾❤️‍🔥 Too many people to mention - or that I don’t have their Insta ID’s! Please tag youreelf if you see yourself! BTW The backing track was originally created with @generalzooz @diggydang @reggaerajahs in 2015 for Da High’s 10th anniversary. I just re-freshed and re-mastered it for this reel. Tell me how you feel about it in the comments.
