The thin soil and exposure to salty sea breezes and long winters have led to their stunted growth and sculptural forms. The trees' trunks twist and bend, seemingly dancing to the rhythm of the waves. They have perfected the art of adaptation, embracing a bonsai-like existence that allows them to endure the archipelago's challenging climate.
