If you visit Machu Picchu, make sure to stay an extra day and do this hike! In addition to the main sightseeing routes within Machu Picchu, there are 2 hikes that you can take to see a view of Machu Picchu from above. There is a shorter hike called Huchuy Picchu (pictured here) and a longer hike called Huayna Picchu. To access these trails you just need to reserve a Machu Picchu entrance ticket for circuit 4. This circuit will take you through the lower section of Machu Picchu to the trailhead where both of these hikes start. There is a check point at the trailhead, so make sure you have the correct ticket. Huchuy Picchu trail was almost completely empty when I did it and very beginner friendly.
