The last precious weeks of summer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There’s been a houseful of children, adults really but to me they’ll always be children. Days start with the lazy yawn of opening shutters, cool air flowing through the house like a river before the heat of the day beats down on us and a happy busyness fills the house with laughter and friendly footfall. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A neighbour brought up a basket of the most delicious apples this week so I’ve been baking blackberry and apple pies and crumbles whilst laughing (and crying) listening to Ann Patchett’s latest novel, Tom Lake- a brilliant book to listen to on Audible btw because its read by Meryl Streep. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There’s one more weekend left to savour before they all fly back to university.
