Homesick- I never used to truly get homesick when I was away or deployed overseas. I was very good at living in a compartmentalized world and blocking out distractions or completely overriding them. Since I retired I’ve been home so much than ever before. As a family our relationship has grown so much in the last 4 years and I never look forward to leaving on trips anymore. I’m extremely thankful to have the feeling of being homesick now, I look at their photos and laugh to myself thinking about what they’re doing right now. I try not to think about mistakes I’ve made in the past or time I wasted away, but when I do I focus on overwriting a positive memory in its place. I focus my day on earning my seat at my family’s table and being better than I was the day before. Counting down the days until I can wrap my arms around my ladies again. #blessed #thankful #grateful #daddydaughter #girldad
