More beauty from #UnionSound23: 1959 #Gibson #ES330 TD with a tweed, 1959 #Fender Super. Both belonging to our most gracious and handsome host, @chriswstringer8. Say what you want about the 335 (Chris has one of those too!) being the greatest of the 3xx thinlines, but I'm solidly* a 330 guy. This one is in excellent condition, with just enough wear to tell you it's a good player. Speaking of "good players": one thing I really admire about Chris is that he isn't just a vintage guitar collector, he's first and foremost a player. Maybe it's because he records music for a living (and so has a well-trained ear for the tonal characteristics of a guitar?), but the sound of the guitar comes first for him, before any other consideration. Even if it was the rarest of vintage guitars; if it didn't also sound incredible, Chris would promptly chuck that second rate chunk of ash, mahogany, or korina right out on its tokus! 😉 Can you imagine letting go of a pre-CBS Stratocaster or a mid 60s SG because it didn't quite cut the mustard, sound-wise?? You have to admire that kind of discipline and commitment to tonal excellence!
