Very first time trying Les Chantereines from Selosse, an interesting lieux-dits experience for our February tasting in Lyon at @arthur_coillard 🤘🥂 Nice start when we could see this beautiful deep yellow color. This isn’t an old bottle, it was disgorged in early 2021. I was surprised to discover that the nose was quite tight and closed. No one could guess Selosse, no markers here of their very atypical style. Very mineral with a little bit of orange peel. Rather cold and stony. Slightly unwinds after some minutes and shows a little bit of honey and toast. Very fine and focused. The palate brings more pleasure. Super nice mousse, the wine is full and lively. Gorgeous bitterness. Some spices and white pepper. Additional touches of cocoa and powder. Again, minerality is very intense and we cannot feel any oxidative trait that often defines Selosse. Beautiful length. The experienced is mixed as I would have expected more generosity. I was told this plot gives completely different wines compared to Les Carelles for example. Maybe this should be awaited more.
