We are so excited to celebrate the release of Infinite Voyage, out today! Ever since their first performance of Schoenberg’s Second Quartet in 2015, @hannigan.barbara and the @emersonstringquartet have been eager to record this seminal masterpiece. Infinite Voyage, the Quartet’s final recording before it disbands in late October, features a group of stylistically varied works whose common thread is an undertone of unfulfillable yearning, brought to life by each composer’s absolute commitment to his aesthetic ideals. In this album, they juxtapose Berg’s bracing early quartet, Opus 3; a rarely performed and sensuous vocal work of Hindemith; and Chausson’s exquisite, heartrending Chanson Perpétuelle with Schoenberg’s setting of Stefan George’s visionary poems.
