‘GRATITUDE unlocks the fullness of life.’ Lately at the end of class I have been asking my students if they ‘gained more APPRECIATION for their bodies and all they are mentally/physically capable of’. So many kids immediately respond ‘yes’ without a second thought and then take a pause, reflect on what they achieved, and smile. Whether you are a student, educator, or even a parent of a dancer, I think we all are looking at what to ‘fix’ and how to be ‘better/stronger’ all the time, which I encourage…and what many are not doing is CELEBRATING the simple fact they get to put in the hard work to improve. Taking a moment to appreciate your body, mind, and the opportunities in front of you changes the entire experience. Yes my class will be hard, yes you will be pushed to your limit, and yes I expect your best…and I mentor that way so YOU or your child sees what they can achieve and learns how to APPRECIATE themselves and what they have to offer.
