Shame on anyone who knocks the dreams of someone else. Two months ago, we discontinued Alessia's therapy upon the determination of a doctor employed by our insurance company who deemed it no longer "medically necessary." One of the conditions for maintaining our benefits was that Alessia had to demonstrate the ability to stand independently and unassisted (we were told 3 years ago she may never move beneath her neck again). Such narrow thinking is a reminder of why I approach advice from physicians with a healthy dose of skepticism. If you know us, then you know this is just a speed bump. We’re pursuing the “impossible “and when you’re doing that, people and circumstances will do their best to get you to quit. If you too are chasing the seemingly impossible, embrace the words: can’t, won’t and no. And if no one else dares to believe in you, rest assured that we do. - - - - #caregiver #spinalcordinjury #dad
