⁣ The Niki Charitable Art Foundation celebrates the life of Marc Bohan, French fashion designer who is best known for his 30 year career at the House of @dior . He was the longest running designer at Dior, working as the artistic director of the luxury brand from 1961 to 1989.⁣ ⁣ Mr. Bohan befriended Niki de Saint Phalle in the 1960’s, and their friendship turned into a working relationship as well, with Bohan creating many signature looks for Saint Phalle. It is said that the two created a barter system, with Saint Phalle exchanging art work for Bohan’s fabulous creations. ⁣ ⁣ Bohan designed dresses, pantsuits and elaborate coats for Saint Phalle, including a famous long black coat with silver fox sleeves. Another one of the designers’ more prominent custom looks created for Saint Phalle was a headdress made of intertwined snakes, that the artist wore for the launch of her perfume line in 1982. The turban was designed to mimic Saint Phalle’s perfume bottle, which also had 2 snakes (one male and one female) intermingling with one another.⁣ ⁣ Besides Niki de Saint Phalle, Marc Bohan designed stunning and timeless pieces for notable clients such as Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Princess Caroline of Monaco, and many other celebrities and persons of nobility. ⁣ ⁣ The designs Mr. Bohan created over the years are not only considered iconic and one of a kind, but also as unforgettable works of art.
