This must stop; and this is how I’m going to make it stop. I’m sharing with you, the public, the reality of what I’m living through. Why? Because I must; it is time to FACE the reality of our society. Because women need to be more than just “believed” or heard. THEY NEED TO BE SEEN. Women need better protections under the law, women need better access to mental healthcare, to HEALTHCARE in general (you hear me Texas?) this war on women has to stop; and if I have to take up the torch of this, while battered and bruised? Goddamn it; so be it. Strength is all I’ve ever known, and strength is what I must wield now. Is it hard to look at? Imagine living with it. And those are just the damages you can see. The ones that will heal and fade with time. The damages on the inside? The damage done to my family and friends? The damages to me; the heart, the faith I held in all human kind - I will not hide, I will not be quiet, I will not change, I will not dress differently, & I will not allow you turn a blind eye this time. This is what men can do when they believe they hold all the power. THIS is what the Boys Club is and this is what they will continue to do to us until we hold them to account; hold the light up to their eyes and never say surrender. More of us need to stand up; take on the shame, the indignity, the scorn, the guilt, the side eyes, the whispers and the all out attacks on women, the trans community, the LGBTQ community, and on and on and on. What is it about us that they are so afraid of? So I ask; how many of us are going to stand to be counted? Well; I’ll go first. To mis-quote our beloved #taylorswift “It’s me. Hi. I’m NOT the problem.” This is sexual abuse. This is rape. This is the reality of more women than you can count. Most of whom never told a goddamn soul. Even more whom didn’t make it through at all. I stand.
