Welcoming darkness and shadow to appreciate the light. . This piece, along with many more surprises will be included in my upcoming solo exhibition, . Buncheong, The Layers Within . @hugomentosf opening next Saturday, September 16 in San Francisco, CA. . Although most of the work is focused on buncheong, I will include a few pieces like this one that embrace the concept of quiet shadow and rich texture. Inspired by the taryeom onggi method of coiling clay, this series is made of 100% wild clays from the Sierra Nevada range, foraged earlier this year in the wet season. I selected a few seams of clay that showed promise as singular clay bodies and kept them aside for the right occasion. Finally Ive found a way to celebrate this material without glaze to provide contrasting balance with the rest of the glazed buncheong series. . #hugomentosf #marcominetti #minetti #minettidesign #wildclay #interiordesign
