DO NOT FORGET to TAKE STUMP SHADE of the prepared abutment teeth and communicate with the lab Without it, how do you expect the lab to get to the “target shade”? You want the veneers to have some natural translucency, so the shade of the tooth structure underneath has a great impact! It may be easier for complete smile makeovers, but single veneers or when abutment teeth have different shades are definitely a challenge for the lab if they don’t know the stump shade!! The FINAL SHADE of the veneers is impacted by the shade of the underlying tooth structure and the composite resin used, therefore… ALWAYS communicate STUMP SHADE with the lab!!! They need to know in order to select the proper ceramic type, opacity, shade etc…! They can also fabricate special dies that have the same shade as the abutment teeth to simulate the anticipated outcomes already in the laboratory to avoid big (bad) surprises for the clinician and patient on the day of delivery… .
