How do you START??? In the beginning I swam with my hands open like claws not realising all the water was going through my fingers. I didn’t know how to breathe on both sides whilst swimming & had never tried I put my swimming cap on the wrong way for months without realising the seam was meant to go down the middle of my head I didn’t know what a ROTB was? *falls off the bike whilst clipped in & stationary* I often googled the distances of an IM because they didn’t seem to stick What even is a turbo trainer?? Hey siri, what does T1 & T2 mean?? Fuelling strategies?? I’m confused.. *googles how to put a wetsuit on* oh.. so that’s why I got gloves with my wetsuit! I’d listen to triathlon podcasts where they’d do race recaps & couldn’t even picture me being at a start line… Fast forward a several months.. ✔️I cycled my first 100KM ✔️I ran my first official marathon ✔️I completed my first ever triathlon ✔️I finished another 70.3 but this time took comfort in putting my race number sticker on top of the previous race sticker. I was no longer a ‘first timer’ 🥹 🫡We all start somewhere. It doesn’t matter how little you know, how new & inexperienced you are to something. Everyone at someee point was in that very same situation. I hope whoever is reading this takes comfort in seeing my starting point to where I am now. I’ve still a tonne to learn but with every day that passes I build on what I know & gain more & more experience.
