A woodfired tumbler with vibrant flashing, speckly wood ash, and crystal galore. I love the contrast between subtle orange gradients and the darker swaths of grey/burgundy/white wood ash. These areas of wood ash remind me of moss or lichen covered rocks, or a landscape dusted with snow. Swipe to see the full piece! This is one of my woodfired tumblers that will be featured in the upcoming @charliecummingsgallery exhibition Cup: The Intimate Object XIX! The show opens online at Noon eastern on October 6th. I can’t wait to be part of this show again, and to share my five favorite cups from 2023 (so far). I threw this tumbler from three pounds of troy porcelain @bklynclay, and I faceted and trimmed it using a @mudtools carving bow and fettling knife. After being bisque fired, I refined all the surfaces and edges using @diamondcoretools sanding pads.
