Leaning forward and back on seated rows is very common. We all got it from watching the great Arnie in pumping iron. There is more than one way to row and there are good arguments for doing seated row variations that involve leaning the torso and rounding the back. BUT…this is advanced territory and most people are doing it completely incorrectly and therefore not training the back muscles effectively. If your back development is lagging, I would strongly encourage you to go back to basics and get strong with strict seated rows with a vertical torso. It will require you to check the ego and lighten the load. But I promise you, it will develop your back strength & muscle mass WAY faster than going too heavy and leaning all over the shop.
