They are the most critically endangered canid in the world, with fewer than 30 surviving in the wild, in a tiny portion of northeastern North Carolina. ❗️How can YOU help red wolves? 🚙 DRIVE CAREFULLY- Road strike is one of the top two causes of red wolf mortality. When vacationing to the Outerbanks, travelers coming from the west on 64 and 264 cut through the red wolf recovery area. Giant neon signs indicate where red wolf territory is located. In those areas especially, slow down and be alert particularly at dusk and dawn. 📝 LEARN- Even in North Carolina, many people don’t even know red wolves exist. The facts people do know are often actually misconstrued myths. Check out reputable sources like @redwolfcoalition , @usfws , @endangeredwolfcenter , and @wolfconservationcenter .
