After the nice NSG white vertical, we studied the reds, same plot (Clos des Grandes Vignes) with 2012 to 2018 vintages without 2016 which was not produced. These cuvées used to be quite accessible until quite recently and we were lucky to find some and taste a few of them in Lyon, including 2014 in July 2022, which makes a good point of comparison. 2012- cloudy robe in the glass. Quite spicy overall. Some toffee and candies. Good density of fruit, juicy and ripe. The palate shows good energy and texture, rather concentrated, but the finish shows a little dry and short here. 2013- colder nose but cleaner eye. A little vegetal with wet leaves and grass. Some salinity and fresh roses. We had this one in May 2022 as well and I keep superb memories of it. Once again in June 2022 that was oxidized. This bottle here showed medium performance in comparison. Nice fruit on the palate but the mouthfeel is tighter overall with more drying tannins, despite the good finesse in general. Enjoyable. 2014- more open and generous than the one we had in July 2022. Less dark and more juicy. Saline, fresh, good acidity. Full and well integrated. Fruit and spices. The most complete profile of the trio, also enjoyable with nice fluidity. Definitely a nice way to prepare our palate for the Reignots vertical that followed.
