A pair of Black Berkey Filters typically lasts approximately 6,000 gallons which is about 2 years. How do you know when it's time to replace them? When they fail the Red Dye Test. Not sure what the RDT is? 🔴 DM us! One way to extend the lifespan of your filters is to regularly clean them. We recommend doing a filter scrub every couple of months. To clean your filters, take them out of the Berkey, use an abrasive sponge (we 💛 @scotchbrite) and running water. ⚠️ Do NOT use soap! 🚫 Once you've scrubbed for a few minutes, prime the filters and reinstall. While we can't currently sell Black Berkey Filters (due to an EPA stop sale--read more in our bio link) you can still purchase them from other distributors.
