When I was in elementary school there was a Deaf student in my class and it bothered me immensely that I didn’t know how to talk to her. I’ve always wanted to be a friend to all so I started sitting with her interpreter and participating in after school activities to learn American Sign Language. When I partnered with @medstarhealth at the beginning of the year they were already doing incredible work to bring educational CPR videos to Washingtonians. However we quickly realized that there are almost no CPR educational videos created specifically for our Deaf and Hard of Hearing neighbors so we teamed up with @gallaudetu to change that! Over 20,000 people in DC communicate with ASL. Making this video was an absolute joy. It’s so crazy to see how talents and skills can be used to help others. Thank you MedStar Health and Gallaudet University for your commitment to making information accessible and for the strides you’re making towards health equity in the District and beyond. It was a privilege to be a part of this project. The work continues, friends.
