Today I want to share with my history lovers the photographs sent by @cloudysky348 "Ğädel Qutuy (Adelsha Nurmukhametovich Kutuev) was a Soviet Tatar sci-fi writer, poet, playwright, journalist and a war correspondent. He was born to a Tatar Turk family in Tatarskiye Kynady, Russian Empire, 1903. Before engaging in writing, he worked at farms as a teenager. He began studying at the chemical department of the Polytechnic Institute in Kazan. He studied well but after his second year he dropped out. At 24 years old, he was one of the 5 most prominent Tatar writers, but also was one of the Tatar writers being accused of criminal activity against the regime. He was jailed for 8 months with the other members of the poetry and writing group "Jedigen" (Heptagon) till he proved he was innocent. Even after he was released, the label "enemy" stayed on him for a long time. Many of his friends and colleagues turned away from him and pretended to be unfamiliar with him. After being excommunicated from literature, he started working at a Tatar-language radio station. Even though he wasn't allowed to publish any more works, he wrote the lyrical novel "Tapshyrylmagan Hatlar" (Unsent Letters) under a penname. The book was a popular hit at the time in the USSR and was translated into Russian, Bashkir, Korean, Czech, Mari, Tuvan, Karakalpak, Chinese, Mongolian and more. He became a soldier in the Red Army and was awarded the medal "For Courage" for his distinction in the Battle of Stalingrad. He continued writing and broadcasting even when he was serving as a soldier on the battlefields. He died of tuberculosis in the arms of a nurse at a hospital while on duty in the Vistula-Oder Offensive and was buried in Zgierz, Poland, 1945.
