Duchess Maria Antonia, Princess of Bavaria and Electress of Saxony (1724-1780). She was a German Princess, composer, singer, player of the harpsichord and patron of the arts. She was particularly well-known for the two operas she made, The triumph of fidelity and Talestri, the queen of the Amazons. She married the heir of the Electorate state of Saxony in 1747, Frederick Christian. They had nine children, seven survived. When her husband died in 1763, she functioned as regent for her sun until 1768. She founded a textile factory, a brewery and opposed the claim to the Polish throne for her son during her Regency. She studied music with renowned opera composers. She also performed actively as a singer and keyboard player in court performances, including two leadingroles in both of her operas.
