5 things you need to accept if you want to enjoy Bookstagram: ✨LET’S CHAT✨ Enjoying your time on Bookstagram is easy at first but it requires work. There are some things you need to accept if you want to continue to enjoy your time here on Bookstagram. Remember that ‘enjoy’ is not synonymous with ‘be successful’ BUT these things will certainly help you a little towards that. 1. Not everyone is going to like you 💯 This is ok! You aren’t going to be liked by everyone. Instead, focus on finding your tribe. Find people that are like-minded, who have similar tastes in books, tropes and interests. That’s your community. 2. You need to engage with others 💯 There’s no doubt that some people do turn up, just post content and leave. But what is the point? Where is the enjoyment? If you want to enjoy bookstagram then you need to engage with the community in a MEANINGFUL and AUTHENTIC way. This will create conversation, friendships and perhaps collaboration. 3. You need to be authentic 💯 Sure, you can show up and pretend to be something you’re not … but after awhile you won’t be able to maintain that and you certainly won’t find your true community. Whether you’re a nerdy science student, an exhausted and grumpy mom, a golf loving dad or a 17 year old boy who loves baking - YOU NEED TO BE YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF. Pretending to be anything else will be exhausting. 4. Your content matters 💯 I know people tell you that it doesn’t, but if you aren’t making your content clear then people are going to struggle to engage with you and you’ll feel like you aren’t involved. Images, text and captions need to be clear and easy to understand. People need to feel like they can respond to what you’re saying or asking - because they WON’T if they CAN’T. 5. People will unfollow you 💯 Your follower count will fluctuate. People change interest. Bookstagrammers change fandoms/tropes. Some people only follow for follows back and unfollow when you don’t. Others stop using their account. And sometimes, they no longer relate to you or who you are. #bookstagramadvice #instagramtips #momswhoread #bookishcommunity #bookcommunity #homelibrary
