A BAMBOO FABRIC BARONG... designed by @francislibiran8 Becoming a Filipino citizen, knowing I am wearing something not just local, but the first of its kind... incredible. It has been absolutely wonderful over the years, getting to learn about fabrics, weaves, and unique local designs. If you have been following my life journey up until this point, you would know how much I appreciate local. It meant so much to me that Filipino designer Francis Libiran came up with this Pintados-inspired Barong. It is embroidered with intricate art deco signature details, and made out of Bamboo fabric. Sitting down with Francis at his house, talking about my life journey (which he had been following)... it was a surreal moment when I came back for that first fitting! I kid you not, the lyocell-bamboo pants, and silk-bamboo barong fabrics were so comfortable to wear. The color, the feel... I can't believe this was bamboo!! Thank you so much Francis for collaborating with this project. It was inspiring watching you apply your passion and skill, and seeing your appreciation for the innovations of Filipino weavers and scientists... CONGRATS!! YOU JUST MADE HISTORY!
