Don’t 👀 away……this one is for the munter fans. The super munter, shown here using a single strand of rope for visual clarity is an Improvised Descent Option should you drop your belay device. On the theme from our previous posts. You can set up the super Munter using both strands like you would a traditional rappel by doubling the system (one section of line from each side of the rappel rings. To use this system on a single strand, the rappel needs to be blocked. A system we’ve shown on here numerous times. 🪢 And of course, as with any technical system, you must understand these skills THEN start building them into the toolkit by practicing in a low/no consequence setting and with someone able to help inform your decisions. How To: First, build a munter. Then with the brake strand, wrap around the load strand, around the front side of the hitch and clip back through the carabiner. Remember to lock it. ✅We like this option as a tool to minimize the dreaded pigtail that you may get with a simple munter 🐽 ✅Make sure the brake strand doesn’t rub on your extension. We could have done better on this, but you all should be able to under this. ✅Use a third hand backup for this system as shown.
