Our Grade 4 students are playing the role of designing and creating their own learning space as part of their Thematic Learning theme, “Sense of Place.” They interviewed school community members to find out about their favorite learning tools and spaces. Answers ranged from good old-fashioned pen and paper to laptops, calming spaces and tools, their hands dirty in the garden, and many more. Their challenge is designing and creating a classroom space or tools to achieve their best learning experience. After deciding on their ideal learning space and tools, students will create a design proposal with a complete outline of their ideas. They will then present their ideas to their classmates at the end of the term, highlighting the challenges and successes of their learning journey. This project will enhance our students' communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
