Now don't panic and think Autumn has suddenly landed overnight; today is my birthday so I'm treating myself by sharing my own favourite photograph. I took it a few years ago now, but I love it because I can look at it and still remember exactly how that morning smelt and sounded. There was a real hush in the woods, just a single wren singing out and the steady, slow drip of mist from the trees, and wrapping all about me the sweet, musty scent of fading leaves and damp earth. I would love to walk into that morning again one more time, but I know it will never be repeated in exactly the same way, no matter how long I wait. Looking at this image takes me there in my head though, and that's absolutely the best thing about photography in my opinion, grabbing and catching and storing that one moment forever.
