ALL EYES ON BOBO CALCUTTA For TVOF'S first ever print edition Ayushman ‘Bobo’ Mitra’s eponymous label is an assemblage of artistic influences and lived experiences—painted and printed, embroidered and embellished on a canvas of clothing. On a July morning in Kolkata, Bobo, designer and founder of the fashion label Bobo Calcutta, and author Karuna Ezara Parikh are twinning. Both, longstanding friends, get together for a TVOF shoot for maker-and-muse themed visuals. Excess is a leading character in Bobo’s work, but behind the scenes is an assertion of identity, joy and rebellion all at once. The designer—who identifies as queer, and uses fashion as a means of expression—approaches the idea of excess from an emotional perspective. “Maximalism is a moment, when one rises up, without the fear of being judged,” he says.
