What’s better than walking into a Balkan dessert shop and seeing the glistening golden ridged exterior of the famous Tullumba/Tulumba. Found in cultures through the Balkans and Middle East, this dessert has a special place in the hearts of many Balkan people. It is essentially a fried batter soaked in a syrup, similar to a South Asian Jalebi, and or a Spanish Churros. The dessert was popularised in the region through Ottoman Empire, and within the context of the Balkans Tulumba tends to be very similar in terms of its production and recipe.
