Dinosaurs among us. New eyes made for another fun trip. A 4 am wake-up, snacks in the ice chest, stop for a gas station biscuit n’ coffee, and off to the boat ramp. This time in the basin, which I’ve never experienced. Mr. Russell tells us it’s a record low water level which means more gators in small spaces. This is good news for a commercial gator trapper. He’s already got the lines and hooks baited. We head to check them. Nothing on the first 3 with rebating needed, and then it was all uphill from there. By 8:30 am we have 8 in the boat, not nearly as many as he’d have liked to have. For us it’s plenty and we’re grinning ear to ear. We cover them with a tarp and head back to the ramp.
