I found my favorite place🏔️🧊🧚🏻‍♂️✨ And it’s an absolute fairytale. This is the most gorgeous place I’ve ever seen and something about it has a hold on me. I just know it will be special to me forever. I did this hike as a solo side trek on our 4 day trip and I contemplated whether or not I should go up for so long. I didn’t know how far it actually was or how much elevation I would gain and usually this is a no go situation for me. BUT I had been wanting to see this lake for so long (I’m in love w the minarets) and we felt so close. I decided to use the little measuring legend on the AllTrails map and estimated about a mile each way but again, didn’t know the elevation gain. I honestly just made an educated guess using the trail I had downloaded and decided I would give myself a cut off time and trust my instincts.. Also bringing my @garmin and my @gregorypacks with an emergency whistle. On the hike up there was only one point where I felt like it may not be safe for me so I assessed the situation but decided I could keep going. I saw one other couple on my way up doing it with their fully packed packs struggling and it made me anxious, but with my light load, I was safe. (They ended up ditching their packs for the hike and grabbing them after) My little side mission ended up being 2 miles round trip w/ ~ 500 ft elevation gain on the way up, which actually felt like more because the trail was snowed over so I had to do some scrambling, but it was my favorite solo hike yet.
